The Mars Sample Return Mission (Animation)

Final presentation of my work over 6 month co-op!

Motion tracking preformed on 10000FPS video.

Early stage quasi-kinematic rotary latch prototype.

Applied aerospace design via Siemens NX, beginning with hand calculations to establish design boundaries and material selection (Ti, 17-4PH, Al), followed by FEA to verify calculated load paths, thus establishing a convincing design narrative.
Generated & conducted procedures for shock characterization testing of prototype umbilical separation of the Mars Ascent Vehicle as part of the Mars Sample Return (MSR) mission, the first ever rocket launch from another planet.
Engineered Ground Support Equipment to install umbilical separation mechanisms for the Mars Ascent Vehicle by utilizing mechanically actuated flexures to comply with volumetric constraints, informing flight hardware decisions.
